We started the drive back to Arizona around 4 pm Saturday. The first half of the trip we really took it easy up hills and stopped multiple times to check for leaks our signs of distress. After we gained the Revcons trust we picked up the pace and cruised at an average of 70 mph with no problems. Both Jason and I were really impressed with how easy the Revcon was to drive and how much power was available.
First Inspection:
On the way back from California we noticed a constant heat coming from under the dash. It was defiantly coming from the heater core but unfortunately we had no way of shutting it off. All of the controls for the heater and ac unit did not function.

Under the dash showed 40 years worth of dirt and debris. Also the typical splices, added electrical tape and missing or moved parts from years of people who tinkered under the dash.
And here is the reason for the constant heat. The original water valve that allows water to enter the heater core or close it off is completely rusted in the open position. Luckily this is a very inexpensive part. This would explain why the heater box had been tampered with so many times over the years. Other owners trying to find a way to stop the heat.
Its a rats nest of wires but will clean them up the best we can when we install the new gauges.
Here is the after market speaker install. Not a good job at all. Ill have to sort this out as well.
We cut it off and sent out for a new one.
Here is a view of it in the "open" position allowing hot water to flow freely into the heater core. With the new one installed its going to stay much cooler in the front cab area.
